We wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported our crowdfunding appeal to support the efforts of University of Hull staff and students who are producing face shields for nurses, carers and doctors.
Your support has helped the team secure the materials they need to push ahead with mass production of this vital protective equipment to support those on the frontline in the fight against Covid-19. We're so proud of everyone involved and are incredibly grateful to the 1000+ people who have donated so far, and have helped us make a huge difference.
Yesterday we were able to send out 4000 face shields to NHS and frontline workers. The project has officially been scaled up and rolled over into mass production.
There is now capacity to send out 35,000 visors over the next two weeks thanks to everyone's generous donations.
Update Friday 10 April: We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed so far to our fundraiser. Almost 500 people have joined in and contributed to help us secure the materials we need to make these face shields that will help to keep our nurses, carers, doctors, ambulance crews and paramedics safe in the coming days, weeks and months. In less than 24 hours, you have raised an amazing £10,000, which is an amazing contribution, and we are absolutely overwhelmed by your generosity, and by the number of people who are supporting this.
On Tuesday the team will be placing an order for the materials they need to produce these masks. With demand for these materials increasing, prices will also be increasing day-by-day, which means that we need to be able to make as big an order as possible at the end of the Bank Holiday. So we’re increasing our target now to £20,000 and will continue increasing it to match your generosity. Please keep sharing and spreading the word so that we can help keep our heroes safe.
Update – Thursday 9 April, 10pm – We have been humbled by the response to our crowdfunding campaign. In a little over four hours we surpassed our initial target of £5,000, which means 6,000 face shields to protect local NHS frontline staff.
A big thank you to everyone who has donated so far, your generosity has genuinely overwhelmed us. Over 200 people have supported this campaign and we are so grateful to each one of you. Staff, students, alumni and friends of the University of Hull have come together to reach this amazing amount. They are people who care about our NHS and the healthcare workers who are putting their own safety at risk to look after us.
The more money we raise, the more face shields we can make, the more nurses, doctors and carers we can help to protect. Because of this response, we want to increase our target to £10,000, or 12,000 face shields. If we can raise almost £5,000 in four hours, let’s see if we challenge ourselves to go even further!
Thank you for your support of this project. Every £1 means an extra mask, and tonight you have made an immense contribution. Please share this page with your friends and family, and let’s look after our heroes.
