Give in Memory of Libby Squire - Build on her Legacy

Libby Squire was a University of Hull student, she was a member of our community, she was one of us.

Libby had taken our city and our University to her heart, and her loss has affected us all. Since learning of her disappearance in February, the University community have connected in hope, then fear, and ultimately sadness and grief. Now we invite you to connect in Libby's name, and do something positive for the benefit of our current and future students.

We know we have an incredible family of alumni, students and staff here at the University of Hull, many of whom have already asked for a way to recognise and honour their fellow Hull alumna by making a donation in her name. We have therefore created this page to provide an opportunity for you to come together and join us as we create something positive in Libby's memory. We are very grateful for your kindness and generosity.

We will update this page with further information regarding the specific outcomes of Libby's Fund. In the meantime if you have questions or would like to learn more about Libby's Fund please contact

In this dark time, we hope you might join us as we seek to find a little light for Libby's family, by doing something positive that will directly impact our student community.

We are #HullAlumni. Libby is one of us. She will not be forgotten.

Thank you.

Thank you so much to everyone that has already donated, your generosity has been overwhelming. We knew our alumni were looking for a way to unite and express their sadness, but we didn’t expect to exceed the initial fundraising target so quickly.

In light of this, and as promised, we can now confirm where the money raised to date, along with any further donations will go.

The University of Hull will establish the ‘Libby Squire Recognition Award’, to be known locally as ‘Libby’s Prize’.

Students will be invited to nominate their peers, who they consider have significantly contributed towards the University community. In keeping with the manner in which the University family united during these last few darks months, this prize is designed to recognise those who have gone above and beyond in the name of community spirit and friendship.

The first prize will be awarded in July 2020, the year Libby would have graduated. We hope to raise enough money to offer each recipient £300. Should we reach our target of £6,300 any money raised thereafter will be used towards the creation of a quiet, reflective space on campus that will support our students, staff, alumni and friends.
